Casa al Vento’s story is a recent one which has been filled with emotions since its very beginning.
We are based in Gaiole in Chianti, in the Chianti Classico ‘Gallo Nero’ (black rooster) territory. The thousand-year-old woods and the ever-surprising colours of the land surround us, and our remarkable Chianti Classico is born from the truly sublime scents of the countryside.
We nestle in the heart of Tuscany, between Siena and Florence, in the West of Val di Pesa and Val d’Elsa. The gentle hills now harbour long rows of vines and have been framed with forests and olive trees for centuries.
The first historical information about the Chianti Classico dates back to 1398, but it was legitimised in 1716 with ‘Il Bando dei Vini di Cosimo III’, which gave protection to this Wine boundary, delimitating the area of its production.
Chianti Classico is synonymous with the Gallo Nero, the registered trademark that makes our wines recognisable all over the world.
Pino Gioffreda (Don Pippi)’s instinctive love of the land of Pino Gioffreda, Ria Conte Gioffreda’s taste and personality, and Francesco’s subsequent foresight supported by the Pierpaolo’s pragmatism, have made Casa al Vento a dynamic Chiantigiana reality.
After an initial period in which Stefano Chioccioli was appointed oenologist of our wine cellar, today the young Francesco Villa has been able to further enhance the work started in the early 2000s.
